That is,until i learned the truth about Vietnam. How we were lied to time and time again as for the reason for the war. Same for the Iraqi war. Upon finding all the people that died because of the CIA's intervention into thrid world countries causing six million people, mostly civilians to die as a result i have lost all faith in our goverment policies. the Patriotic Act is another example of our freedom being lost. having served three tours in Vietnam as a Marine i consider myself a patroit. We lost more than 60,000 young men. Were they patroitic. Hell, yes. Like so many Americians i blindly believed most goverment policies as being good for the Americian people as a hold. And they were commenting on public policy, they were commenting on their opposition to Bush's policies, specifically Iraq. So I think the analogy does hold. As for the second part of your comment, I think you are being unfair when you suggest that those who believe that libertarianism leads to the best possible society are somehow "pretending" to care about other people. Do you know what is in their hearts? You can disagree with someone's approach to governance, but it's the height of hubris to suggest that you know that they really don't care or are being dishonest. Finally, you make some pretty bold claims that libertarianism leads to people starving or getting thrown out of their homes. Would you care to give some concrete examples? I would suggest you really don't know much about libertarian philosophy or you wouldn't make such ridiculous claims.
